Chestnut-backed Friends

Onefoot

Chestnut-backed Chickadee , Stanley Park 2025

Upon the branch so light and free,
Sing my friends, the chickadees.
With chestnut backs and feathers fine,
They flit and chatter—friends of mine.

They dance on twigs, they dip and dive,
A joyful song, so bright, alive.
Their laughter rings, a melody,
A tune of trust they share with me.

Through wind and rain, through sunlit cheer,
Their tiny voices call me near.
No fairer friends could ever be,
Than chickadees upon a tree.
